Chapter 116
orann was listing what two Quelan males were telling him. While they talked to him he already made some scribbles on a sheet of foil paper.
"We were very upset, when we saw what our town looked like," One of the Quelan males said.
"It was a delusion and I thought that we would never be able to restore Ribana, for everywhere we saw ruined houses, shops, garden overgrown with weed, broken windows, even collapsed roof domes. The harvest men and the governor had told us that there was enough equipment and tools to start with." The second Quelan said.
"But we didn't know where to begin. Some of us wanted to suggest that we would stay on Cantamaga, for it seems impossible to restore Ribana. Boy, you have seen the overgrown main plaza. Do you remember how beautiful is was? You probably can't for you were too young when we had to flee."
"We were walking around and I became so down-hearted that near cried, when I found out what had happened to the house where I had lived with my wife and our four girls. I walked through the gate to the front door and looked through the broken windows. The garden, where my wife had been growing our feed was overgrown with weeds. But suddenly I had the idea that I wanted to clean up the garden and the fence. I went over to the harvest men and ask for a spade and a reek. As I got back to my garden, others also had begun to do a first clean up. I started to undo the path of the growing weeds and while I was busy I began to see how beautiful Ribana would be, if all of us would put up our sleeves."
"Are you still listening, boy?"
Lorann nodded and showed the male Quelan a first impression of what he had been drawing.
Amazed the Quelan looked at the drawing.
"You're indeed a good listener, boy. Yes, that how my house looked like when I first saw it, but you also have drawn the path I cleared of weed. It looks good again."
The first male Quelan began to tell again.
"We worked all day and when it was sunset half the main plaza had been undo from the overgrown weeds. We all cheered and two droids brought us food and drinks and we gathered at the spots that has been cleaned, for everybody had worked hard. And we told each other what we wanted to do the following days.
Lorann looked at the other Quelan.
"When you went back to Cantamaga, what does your house look like? Can you describe that?" He asked.
"I can tell you it is almost finished. The garden is no longer overgrown, the broken windows are repair with help of the harvest men and I even have painted the fence and the domed roof of my house. I have told my wife who will go next to take some of our furniture of our house here to Ribana: a chair and a table, for all the furniture is gone. Looted, the governor told us. My house will be as beautiful as before, I can tell you. And there are more houses that have already been cleaned up or partially cleaned up."
"All our friends from other planets have done a lot to help us, especially two Jedi friends. They have helped others to build scaffold for some roofs were collapsed and needed repairs."
"Look, does your house look like this when you went back to Cantamaga?" Lorann ask and turned the second drawing to the narrator.
"Exactly, very well done, boy. What is your name?" The Quelan male asked.
"Lorann Radilan, I'm Cornell's youngest son," Lorann answered.
"You have a great talent, Lorann. The two drawings of my house are exactly as they looked like. The first when I felt so down-hearted, the second when I had finished a lot of cleaning and repairs on the house."
Lorann turned to the first Quelan male and asked him to tell how he had felt when he first show Ribana. The Quelan male told him in detail his impression and Lorann managed to show him two drawings of the main plaza just after his arrival and at the end of the two weeks just before the Quelan had left Ribana and gone back to Tyr.
"Thank you for telling me your experience," Lorann said. "What I could show you aren't good drawings, yet, but I will make better once and the governors will put them on display in the main hall of the administration building."
The two Quelan males left and Kamalin entered the room where Lorann had already begun to improve the drawings he had been making. He looked up as his schoolmaster entered.
"Master Kamalin, do you want to see what I have made. It's not real good yet, for I have to draw while they were talking, but I have promised them that I will make a better drawing."
Kamalin looked at the four drawings and nodded.
"Splendid, Lorann. I haven't seen Ribana myself yet, but when I compare what they saw after their arrival and what had been done when they came back here, I see that a lot of work has been done. You are a good listener.
"Master Kamalin, while they are telling me what they have seen and how they felt I can see it myself. They have really seen it, but as they were telling it was as if I looked through their eye and saw the house and the main plaza. I can remember much of Ribana. I was only a very young boy. Chati has told me that I was four years old when I was brought to Cantamaga. But I love listening to what those males told me, for I saw that Ribana will be our home town again."
"You're very talented, Lorann. This will help those who haven't seen Ribana yet to draw hope from these drawings. For today you may stop and I will take care that you will have a good meal with me and master Woldrin. It's likely that the governors also will come to see what you have done."
"Master Kamalin, I want to make some improvements after I have eaten, for these drawing are yet good. I need to add much details."
"You may draw for another hour, Lorann, but then I will take you to your room in the school building to get some good sleep for you need to rest as well. Now come with me and join me and master Woldrin for dinner."
Kamalin put his hand on Lorann's shoulder. The boy carefully put all the foil sheet on a stack and put the stylus he used to draw on top of it. Kamalin watch him and smiled imperceptibly.
Han and Leia were laying in bed in their guest room in Cantamaga. Leia was already half asleep when Han woke her up again.
"Have you seen the drawings Lorann made after two of the Quelans told him what they saw when they first landed in Ribana?" He asked.
"Not yet, darling. What about those drawings?" Leia asked.
"They are very detailed and extremely good. Master Kamalin told me that Lorann was about four years old when he last saw something of Ribana. How can a young boy remember what those house look like? In one of the drawings it is as if you can step right onto the front door of the house and even enter. These drawings will certainly give the Quelans who still have to go to Ribana an idea what to expect. He has made two drawings of each. The first how the owner first saw it, the second one how it looked like after the first necessary repairs had been done. The other two drawings show the main plaza before and after the owergrown weeds had been removed. I'm not really an expert, but even Chewie expressed his appreciation. The boy certainly has a talent, and then to think that Cornell wants him to be married to a seven year old girl, the daughter of Wollin. I can't understand these kind of traditional rules, Leia."
"I'll have a look at them tomorrow. I have been busy all day to help some Quelan woman to select the first necessary furniture they should take with them. We should have done that for the first group as well." Leia said, but Han still pondered on the drawings he had seen.
"When I brought master Kamalin to Cantamaga yesterday, we picked up the boy and master Manall urged him to show us the drawing he had made of the interior of the Astræga just after Luke and Liane had returned to Tyr. At first Lorann didn't want to show it to master Kamalin and me, for he felt bound to that 'special statement' After he showed it to us master Kamalin told him that he should keep it hidden until Ribana will be fully restored. Lorann wants to give the drawing to Liane. Leia, you should have seen it. I should have seen before Luke wanted us to believe that she had asked him to be her Jedi master. If I had known I would have told him that he was lying. Lorann has drawn her while she was looking Luke who was helping Lorann to put another drawing in a frame on the wall of the control room. I have never seen you're looking that way at me, as Liane looked at Luke."
Leia laughed.
"Thank you for that compliment, my love." She said.
Han didn't respond to her comment.
"She looked at Luke as if she only wanted to be with him forever, as if she ... I can't tell. I saw a woman who was completely in love with a man, with Luke in this case. I can't remember that I have seen her look at him that way. I have seen Luke looking at her as he saw the most beautiful women in the galaxy, which is impossible, for that's you, but I have never seen Liane looking at him with eyes full of love. Now I understand what he has asked her and how she has answered."
Leia turned to her husband with a smile.
"Liane has always been hiding her feelings for my brother, Han. It changed a bit after she could tell that she had had similar experiences as him, when she became aware of their long Force connection, but even then she could bring herself to fully admit that in her world there's only one important person, Luke. Do you remember the discussion we have when we brought him to Tatooine to pick up the Astræga? "
"Yes, I told him should go back to Na'ctaMagh'Ba and tell her he loved her. He didn't believe us." Han said "If he had done what I suggested, they probably would have been married long ago."
"I don't think so, Han. By that time Liane wasn't convinced that it was her destiny to become a Jedi Knight. Moreover it would have complicated their relationship because Trevor was still looking for her." Leia said.
"In which way?"
"Because of Liane's own conviction. Her past and her upbringing by my father had too much impact still on her. She would probably have rejected Luke's proposal if he had gone back to her. She had a deep persuasion that she wasn't worth to be my brother's close friend, although she had admitted their long Force connection."
"Did Luke convince her to become a Jedi Knight?" Han asked.
"No, I think it's very likely that he never have had that influence on her, although Liane agreed that he would take as his padawan once she would be free."
"So he could have been her Jedi master if she had stayed in the underground residence and waited for Luke and you to solve the problems on Palomintar Four?"
"Liane is the woman to wait for decision to be taken without her. As you once said; she is a leader, she always has planned her own path."
"And it has brought her many difficulties or so to say." Han commented.
"It was her path to become a follower of the Good Side of the Force: a Jedi Knight." Leia remarked. "It hasn't been an easy path, she made mistake, took wrong decision, but she took her steps one by one."
"Did she really got help from the Jedi of yesteryear as you called them?"
"They gave her insight about what had happened thousands of years ago when the Good Side and the Dark Side fought for dominance in the galaxy, but they weren't her Jedi master."
"As neither Luke won't be her Jedi master."
"No Han, Liane acknowledges only one Jedi Master in her life, and that is my brother. As a Jedi Knight, she relies on the Force, but Luke will always remain her Jedi Master."
"So, a master-padawan relationship after all."
"No, a Jedi-master and his equal." Leia said with a smile and yawned.
"It's becoming to complicated for me, darling. We'd better get some sleep. I hope that Luke and Liane will also have a peaceful sleep on Palomintar Six."
"That is certainly true, my dearest. My brother planned their trip to Ktafunda with a specific goal in mind, and I am certain that he has achieved that goal. Good night, Han, sleep well, my love. May the Force be with Luke and Liane as well." Leia said and kissed her husband.
Han simply pulled her to him and kissed her.
Liane sat on a tree stump near the Astræga. She looked at the nearby cabin. Luke was inside the Astræga in his own quarter following his daily routine of Jedi meditation. He had asked her to join him, but Liane had told him that she wanted to have a look outside and feel part of the Living Force.
It was lovely at the clearing, quiet and Liane had easily become one with the Living Force. Everywhere around her she sensed life. Birds in the tree, invisible for prying eyes; little rodents, shuffling in the underground; beetles, flies, worms, life was everywhere. Further away she sensed some larger life forms, a group of nagawas, and wagolins a small deer.
Again her eyes wandered to the cabin and in her mind she began to see the image of a suffering guy, Ian Tydon, her guard who had turned out to be her brother Tama-Hin Kenobi. A great Jedi Knight, Luke had said about him. A stubborn Jedi Knight, like their father had been stubborn when he had insisted to take Anakin Skywalker as his padawan learner against the will of master Yoda. Her father had promised his dying master that he would take Anakin as his apprentice. An obligation which hadn't been the right choice and had become a heavy burden for him. She recalled how she had met the Force ghost of her father on Tatooine when he had begged to be his messenger and tell Ian, her friend, that Obi-Wan was his father.
'Tama-Hin?' She reached out to him through the Force.
'Shaayla-Car!' Her brother's voice resonated in her mind.
'Shaayla-Car, I want you to know how happy I am about what you and Luke have agreed upon.' Her brother said and Liane sensed how ashamed he has been about what has happened.
'Thank you for your wish, Tama-Hin. I feel sorry for you, after I heard that Leia send you back to Tyr as a disciplinary measure, but you can come back to Ribana, can't you.'
'Yes, Leia has nullified her demand, but I will stay on Tyr. There's much more for me to do, but I will be back before ... Ian voice broke off.
'Before Luke and I will be wed.' She said reassuring to him.
'Eh, of course before that. Shaayla-Car.'
'I'm glad that you and Luke are getting along so well, my dear brother.'
'I always have admired him, Shaayla-Car. I can hardly believe that when the two of you will be married, that Luke is my brother.'
'He told you, didn't he.'
'Yes, and I sensed he is happy about it.'
'He sure is, Tama-Hin.'
'Where did you go on Palomintar Six?' Ian asked.
'Luke needed to do some shopping in Ktafunda. He bought a lot of things for all of us, because you, Yarmod and me need to get our own ceremonial Jedi outfit. I've got a wonderful alliance ring from Luke to remind me of his proposal. Tama-Hin, it was such a great feeling when he asked my to marry him.'
'You probably immediately said 'yes', before he had finished his question.' Ian laughed.
'Almost. At some moments I really can't believe this all happening to me. In Ktafunda we also have bought our wedding rings. They are beautiful. What keeps you busy on Tyr?'
'Lorann, master Manall's grandson. He is a great Force-user, Shaayla-Car.'
'Will his father Cornell accept that he once will be a Jedi Knight.'
'That's the big trouble, but the governors has taken a measure to avoid that Lorann will be wed against his will.'
'He once told us that he will wed a girl who is still very young. Didn't he tell us that once she is fifteen that he will marry her.'
'That's what his father wants, but since Wedge has been taken Chati as his padawan, Lorann is opposing the traditional way of getting married at a young age.'
'I'm sure Luke will help him, Tama-Hin.'
'Chati has already spoken up for him to her father. She made clear that the traditional way of life in Quelan community is making some members unhappy. I can image that. For it's the parents of children who make the arrangement for a wedding. They are free to make their own choice how they want to live.'
'I have heard something about that from Udine and Carmona. I have gotten numerous warnings from them about how I should make sure that Luke behaves as a Jedi Knight should do.'
'Udine has seen you have been kissing Luke, Shaayla-Car. When she arrived on Tyr, she sought me out and urged that I should warn our parents so they could take you home with them. A lot of strange gossip has been spread, but the governors and the Council of the Elder has issue a kind rule of law which forbids the Quelans to talk openly about your wedding plans or that you're a master and an apprentice.' Ian said and Liane heard him laughing.
'Udine asked you to warn our parents? What have you told her?'
'That we are orphans, and that Luke and Leia are also orphans. Shaayla-Car you won't believe the stories that have been going around. You and me are of high birth, because our father has been famous general, and he wouldn't accept Luke as his son-in-law, because Luke is just a farm boy from some backwater planet. Udine even didn't believe that Leia is Luke's twins sister, for she's the princess of Alderaan, but that special statement that the governors have announced has helped. No one is taling anymore about what has been buzzing around. Will you and Luke be back as the second group arrives on Myr?'
'Poor Luke, he is just a farm boy and I am the daughter of a famous general. I will tell Udine that I love my farm boy and I want to spend my whole life with him.'
'She will be upset, Shaayla-Car.'
'She won't be as soon as she hears that we want to ask her husband and his brother to officiate our wedding.'
'Luke and you marry in Ribana?'
'Yes, but not before Ribana will be restored to a level that all Quelans from Cantamaga will live there again.'
'That's we Jedi see as our main task, don't we.'
'Yes, what Luke promised the Quelan community will be our main task.'
'May the Force be with you, Shaayla-Car. With you and Luke forever.'
'Thank you, Tama-Hin. May the Force be with you too.'
Liane came out of her Force connection with her brother and looked up at Luke who had been watching her.
"Have you been talking to Tama-Hin?" He asked.
"Yes. He told me what we already have heard from Leia. He is very concerned about Lorann, Luke? Tama-Hin is sure that Loran is a Force user, like Chati."
"His father Cornell isn't a man to believe in the Force, he doesn't want his son to become a Jedi Knight. I'm getting along with Cornell reasonably well, but if that will be enough to convince him to accept that his son is a Force user I doubt, and if he would accept it, there still is the problem Lorann is still a young boy. Who could be his Jedi master?"
"Why not you, Luke, I saw that you and Lorann understands each other."
"No, I won't, Shaayla-Car. I will not take Lorann as my padawan. After our marriage I want to take you for a long honeymoon to all planets where I have been and probably you can add some you have been visiting with the Yarnick and his brothers.
"Luke, you're supposed to rebuild a New Jedi Order, as master Yoda told you. You don't have a padawan learner at the moment. Wouldn't it be great to see another Force-user become a member of the New Jedi Order."
"Shaayla-Car, it would make our relationship complicated. I want to spend time alone with you after those long months we have been separated, so I don't want to be responsible of the young boy as a padawan learner."
"Luke, I love it that you put our relationship first, but isn't it selfish to let Lorann down."
"I won't disappoint him, my dearest, but I am not going to divide my attention between my greatest love and Lorann. Not now. I agree with you that I understand what the boy wants, but I can't do this to you, because then you would come second, and I want you to be the first and the most important person in my life at the moment. I need to help you to establish a new life in freedom, something you never have experienced."
"I'm a Jedi Knight, Luke. I'm sure I can find my own way to enjoy me freedom. Why not think it over."
Luke shook his head and kneeled before her. He grabbed her hands.
"My lovely naughty pixie, I haven't asked you to marry me and leave you alone at a place where you not at home yet. No, Shaayla-Car, Lorann must wait until a better opportunity presents itself."
Luke pulled her to her feet and kissed her
"I want you to stop thinking about it, my eternal comrade. Promise me, that you will leave this up to me, just as you left it up to me to help Toallin and Mugin to get back to their fellow Quelans on Tyr."
Liane put her arms around his neck.
"I love you, Luke Skywalker, but you mustn't forget your main task, just for me."
"I won't, but we first should bring our obligations to the Quelan community to good end, and celebrate our wedding with them, before a new task turns up."
Liane smiled and nodded.
"You're right, Luke. Again I'm looking to far ahead. I surely need to become more mindful of the moment."
"You certainly have to, my love. You have learned to be more patient, but you still should pay more attention of where you are and what you are doing."
Cornell had entered the administration building on Cantamaga, looking for Kamalin. The chairman of the Council of the Elders and the community's schoolteacher was just leaving his office.
"Cornell, what brings you here?" He asked.
"I want to know if that boy of mine is fulfilling his task the way you want, master Kamalin."
Kamalin beckoned Cornell to follow him and walked over to the main hall where the four drawings Lorann had made were on display. A number of Quelans were looking at it, and the two Quelans who had told Lorann about what they had seen and what they had been doing in Ribana were telling some Quelans of the second group what Ribana looked like.
"You shouldn't expect to find your house as you left it," One of them said. "You will find your garden overgrown with weeds, all your old furniture has been looted, so you have improvise a place to sleep and eat. There's a lot of work to be done, but we can do it, if we keep in mind how Ribana once looked. You will get help for all our human friends. They have been encouraging us and help us with some difficult repairs. The harvest men are doing the toughest jobs, but we can't expect that they will do everything. We all need to put up our sleeves."
Kamalin took Cornell closer to the drawings and Cornell looked at the drawings of the domed house that had been partially repair. He looked closer to both drawing, before he turned to Kamalin.
"Master Kamalin, my son was four years old when I had to bring him to Cantamaga. How can it be that he knew so well how our house look like. Yes, he lived with my wife and my other younger kids, but I have never seen that he paid particular attention to the houses in Ribana. Who has told him what the house precisely look like."
"He has listening well to what those two Quelans told me, Cornell. It was more than enough for Lorann to make these detailed drawings. He told me that while he was listening he saw the image he wanted to draw in his mind. Your son is a very talented Quelan."
Cornell walked over to the drawings of the main plaza and began to shake his head.
"Look he painted the weeds which were growing all over the place as if he has seen it himself, and on the second drawing I see the different colored slabs my father and his men once have used to make the main plaza look prettier. Lorann has seen how the weeds had overgrown the place and I'm sure that he never has paid attention to the different slabs underneath."
"The governors, Woldrin and I are very pleased with what your boy does, Cornell. You should be proud of him and admit that he is special. Not in the way the harvest men are thinking. Your son has a special gift for looking at objects and his environment in a different way," Kamalin said. "He sees more that most of us do. He sees behind reality in a world we can't see with our way of looking."
"One day, master Kamalin, he has to earn his own living and take care of his own family. That's how it always have been, hasn't it?"
"It certainly has, Cornell, but you also know how fast things might change. Have you ever thought that we would be send into exile and make a living on Tyr, where we had to start our traditional way of life all over again." Kamalin said. "Maybe it's time for us Quelans to acknowledge that the way our community has been living also need to change."
"Are you talking about that Fonaldris' woman, master Kamalin. I always have found her a nuisance, a trouble maker and yet after the Jedi Knight have turned up in our community they have recognized some special skills the woman possesses. On of those Jedi Knight has taken a particular interest in her and now she is his apprentice and he teaches her how she can make use of those special skills."
"And she is doing well under this tutorship, I have heard, Cornell. The governor and his wife are very pleased with master Antilles." Kamalin said and looked at the harvest man.
Cornell looked again at the drawings Lorann had made.
"I'm glad to see that my son does what you expected, master Kamalin. I'm going, thank you for showing me these drawings."
Cornell turned around and left the main hall of the administration building. Kamalin watched him go.
'You have a lot to think about, Cornell. I hope that in the end you will admit that your son is also a gifted Force user. It might take some time, but you will change your mind about him.' The schoolteacher though.
Chati was running up the steep hill to the plateau at high speed. She felt one with the Force and could easily extend her physical possibilities. It feel great to be able to run this fast. She increased her speed and reached the plateau in the blink of an eye. Once she had reached the plateau she looked for Wedge Antilles, but he already was waiting for her.
"Well done, Chati. This time you fully relied on the Force. Did you notice that the run didn't exhaust you?" Wedge asked her.
"It felt great to run this fast, master. Lorann was right I am really enjoying to run this fast. Did I ever tell you that I saw Ben running this fast downhill. Oh, yes, that was when you and Yarmod arrived. I sensed that your space ship was coming and I hurried up to Ben who had gone to the plateau that day. I was completely exhausted when I reached the plateau." She said and looked elated at him.
"You sure do better now, Chati," Wedge said. "Yes, I remember when we first met. You were an excellent representative of your fellow Quelans. You didn't really look as a Quelan female, wearing those men's clothes. Why did you do that?"
"They were old clothes of my father. He was away a long time, before Ben and his friend brought him and uncle Mugin back. I altered those clothes so they would fit me."
"Why did you want other clothes then the other Quelan young woman are wearing."
Chati looked at her master.
"To spite my mother and to show her that I wouldn't be forced into something I didn't want to do, master."
"Don't you respect your mother, Chati?"
Chati was silent for a while, then she shook her head.
"No, master, I don't. She is my mother, but she is so old-fashioned so traditional. She always was pushing me to marry Cemall Radilan, Cornell's son since I was fifteen. She said that it was time that I would set up my own household and raise a family. That's what she has been doing all her life, I despise a life like that. I couldn't imagine that I would be happy, doing day in day in all kind of boring household chores and bother myself raising my own children, being pregnant almost every year." She said and Wedge sense her disgust.
"You're exaggerating, Chati. You have two brothers, and the family of your uncle Mugin has only two boys."
"Oh, that's because my father and his brother didn't want a large family, but the families of the harvest men have at least seven or eight children. Cemall always told me that I had to be the mother of twelve of his children. I couldn't imagine anything more abhorrent. He never asked my opinion, but on Myr I made clear to him that he should stop daydreaming about marrying me."
"Did you tell him that because you despise him, even hate him for what he is?" Wedge asked.
Chati made a thoughtful face.
"I don't hate Cemall Radilan, master, I hate the idea's the harvester's group represent. I despise their opinion about female Quelans who they only see as the mother of their children. I have often wondered if the harvest men really love their wives. All their marriages are arranged, already when the future couples are still children."
"You are thinking about Lorann now, aren't you?" Wedge asked.
"Not in particular, master, although it abhors me that Lorann already knows who will be his wife. He hasn't chosen her himself. His father and master Wollin has done that. Master, Lorann was four years old when he arrived here. By that time, Kalinn, master Wollin wasn't born yet. Master Wollin had three other children before Kalinn was born. She was a Quelan baby girl when master Cornell showed Lorann the girl and told him that one day he would marry her. I don't know what Lorann must have thought, but I think that he couldn't imagine to marry a Quelan baby girl who even couldn't recognize him. This feels despicable, master. I can't think of it otherwise."
"Wedge looked now very seriously at his Quelan padawan.
"Chati, I have heard what you said in your father's office when you spoke up for Lorann. I appreciate what you did, but I also sense a lot of anger in you. Again here while you're telling me how you feel about our mother, about your former relationship with Cemall. You should become more aware of your angry feelings. You want to become a Jedi Knight and I will help you to reach that goal, but those angry feelings, and I understand your basic thought behind those feelings, might endanger you on your path to the Good Side of the Force. Often anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering. I sense your anger and sometimes also your hate against your former way of life. You should learn to accept that your fellow Quelans differ in their opinion with you, but having a different opinion shouldn't mean that you have to become angry about what they are saying and thinking. They also want to lead a way of life which will make them happy. Accept that what they appreciate as being right, doesn't match what you think. Look at their opinion from a different way, respect their opinion and most important don't get angry if they think so different of what you think is right, or should be right. For also you can be wrong in your thinking. You have been crying, feeling very upset about what your former schoolmates were telling you about me, but also about what you've been telling them about your experiences which didn't represent their look at what's right. Your obstinate character has brought you many painful moments."
"Do you tell me, master, that I shouldn't feel hurt when they laugh at me, because they don't believe what I tell them. They always have been laughing at me." Chati said, looking up at Wedge.
"Of course they have, Chati, because you could see behind your actions, which they couldn't. They didn't understand you and when you became angry at them for their - in your eyes - stupid responses to what you told them, they mocked you and laughed at you."
"Aren't their responses than stupid, master?"
"Their responses are what they are thinking, their opinion, not yours. You should learn to valid your opinions the way you look at things, but most of the time there are many ways to look at what we hear. If you learn to look at what's been told, say or done to you from different points of view, you will accept that the others also have different opinions which with you disagree, but shouldn't get angry about."
"Am I not doing well in your eyes, master?" Chati said in a small voice.
"You're doing fine in my eyes, Chati, but you have to learn to control your emotional feelings and rely on what the Force wants to tell you what's behind an opinion that differ from yours."
Wedge puts his hand on Chati's shoulder.
"Do you understand what I'm telling you, Chati. I know it's difficult to change your habit immediately, but once you learn to listen to the Force, also on matters like this, your understanding of her power will improve and give you more confidence."
"I will heed your words, master, for you are warning me that if I will not change I won't become a Jedi Knight, because my angry feelings will prevent that and that's not what I want."
"You have put what I told you in your own words. Think about what I told you and make a step into the larger world of the Jedi Knights, Chati."
Chati now laughed again.
"I will, master, thank you for what you have explained this time."
"Enough teachings for today, padawan. Shall we walk back to Cantamaga and have dinner with your family. Your mother insists that I will join your family every evening because she's very content with me as your Jedi master."
Chati laughed.
"She's always telling me that she has seen you as my master after Shaayla-Car had told her that the Urams hadn't killed me, but that I had gone to Myr with Ben and his friends and the harvesters. That's long before you said that a padawan has to obey his master. So, when I came back with you to Cantamaga, after that intruder had gone, she immediately recognized you, and told my father that Shaayla-Car that showed her the truth."
